The Shantanu Nikhil Gallery We designed an open, airy Earth themed store for their cool Bombay outpost. We designed the Shantanu & Nikhil Gallery in Bandra to be a refined, understated, yet quirky outpost in Bombay. The space was treated lavishly, with large expanses of space, sprinkled with Installations of various kinds
The idea for the gallery was to interpret a modern Indian aesthetic, using simple materials in interesting ways, to allow for a new expression.
We re-oriented the main entry to the side, using the existing staircase to the middle as a large lawn, that added greatly to the visual appeal of the Gallery. A custom grill protected as well as gave privacy to their selected clientele
A perspective of the Gallery space, with the eccentric seating installation ILR-001 in the centre.
A detail of the ILR-001, outlining it's functionality. The installation works as an eccentric centerpiece for gallery, and works in various capacities as sculpture, a hanger for clothes, and a bench-sofa for 5
The ILR-001, by virtue of it's quirky form, becomes the visual of choice in the store, and finds use in various celebrity shoots and formats for press communication, adding greatly to the vibe of the Gallery
