Seamless chemical floorings are those resilient flooring systems which have no grout lines or seams and have extreme chemical and wear resistance. Latex, epoxy compounds, polyester or urethane are the most commonly used seamless flooring materials. These are applied in liquid form to achieve a completely seamless floor covering. For seamless epoxy flooring, the epoxy may be applied as a coating, or combined with silica sand or multi-colored quartz aggregate to produce a durable and easy to maintain floor. This can be done on both new and old surfaces. The more coats you apply the smoother the surface gets, making it more easier to clean. By applying quartz aggregate in different sizes, one can obtain varying textures. These may also have granular or rubberized particles added to give better traction. A final coat of urethane is applied for extended durability and wear. The thickness can vary from 10 mm to 4 inches. These floors can be made decorative too by utilizing coloured pigmented resin or multi-coloured quartz aggregates. They can withstand chemical attack from water, sugars, acids, solvents and caustics.


Appearance - These floors have a very smooth surface with no grout lines or seams. They can either have plain coloured surface or decorative multi coloured designs.
Suggested Uses: These seamless floorings are commonly used in the biomedical, pharmaceutical and research industries; and in wet areas such as laboratories or food processing plant. They can also be used in machine shops, healthcare facilities, educational institutes, shopping centres, restaurants, ramps, shower rooms, water plants, etc.

Pros - Seamless chemical floorings have a seamless and impervious membrane which does not allow dirt and bacteria to penetrate or settle in the floor. They are durable, smooth, easy to clean, skid resistant, chemically resistant, impact resistant, stain resistant, decorative, extremely wear resistant, tough and strong to carry heavy loads. Wide variety of finishes and materials allow for design flexibility. They emit out low odour and zero volatile organic compounds(VOC’s).

Cons - If applied on new concrete base, the surface should be at least 28 days old. Sharp objects or abrasives like knives or scissors can accidentally damage the protective layer, thereby causing further more damage by allowing dirt, dust or moisture to get inside.

Care - These floors require easy cleaning, that is, frequent sweeping and mopping. Proper mild cleanser suitable for epoxy floors should also be used. Do not let dirt, cleanser or detergent sit on the floor for too long. It can cause stains on the floor. If the floor gets accidentally damaged, immediately fix the layer by coating it. Do not ever use bathing soap for cleaning, because it leaves behind a layer of film on the floor and when the floor is wet, it can get really slippery.
