Ruchi Varma

Ruchi VarmaRuchi Varma is an architect-urban designer with a specialization in large scale architecture and sustainable urban design. She graduated from SCET, Surat and completed her Masters' degree from Politecnico Di Milano (2011). With a professional experience of more than seven years, she has been involved with design and research projects on urban regeneration, transport led regeneration, public realm design, inclusive planning and place making, at both national and international level. Intrigued by the interdisciplinary nature of architecture and urban design, her main area of work coincides with her passion and enthusiasm for urban quality, public realm and people centric cities. She has been associated with Transportation Research and Injury Prevention Programme at Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi since 2005 and has been involved in public transport, pedestrian cum bicycle infrastructure research and design projects and worked on various guidelines adopted by Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India. Also, she has taught at post graduate programme at Politecnico di Milano in the large scale architecture and sustainable urban design studio and international workshops and summer schools. Her post graduate thesis 'Networking Urban Continuity' has been awarded the Ing. Ambrosio Firoruzzi prize in Italy for best thesis on urban regeneration and urban renewal (2013) and is being showcased in the 8th International Biennial of Landscape Architecture in Barcelona (2014).
