The National Book Trust based in New Delhi, India, is an apex body established by the Government of India in the year 1957 to develop reading habits and creation of book culture in the country. To achieve its objectives, National Book Trust publishes good quality books at a reasonable price, organizes Book Fairs and Exhibitions in all parts of the country. This provides an opportunity for interaction among authors, publishers, librarians and book lovers.
National Book Trust publishes a wide variety of reasonably priced quality books ranging from works of fiction to books on Medical Sciences and cutting edge technology for all segments of the society and for all age groups, including a wide variety of illustrated books for children.
They had published books in 18 major Indian languages, which include Asamiya, Bangla, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Kashmiri, Malayalam, Marathi, Nepali, etc. The Trust has also published books in Bhojpuri, Himachali, Kokborok, Lepcha, Bhutia, etc.
