Gems Cambridge International School in Hoshiarpur forms part of the new area of strategic growth in the city. The school has courtyard planning ensuring optimum daylight and natural ventilation in functional spaces and circulation areas. To cater 1500 students school consists of 60 state of the art classrooms, some special program classrooms, studio rooms, library, cafeteria, administrative area, multipurpose room and other ancillary facilities. Amidst academic facilities the school also has dedicated kids play area, swimming pool, sports field, tennis/ badminton/ volleyball courts and an exercise field. Based on a research, the building's first floor has been designed as an activity zone. This activity floor is sandwiched by regular classroom floors thereby serving as a shared space for all. The exterior is modern and minimalist with use of concrete, bricks and glass. Complying to the local bye laws the building is offset by 200 m from the access road, utilizing which an extra 100m wide green front is added to the school merging it to the surrounding greenfield area.
