The project has a large floor area with well spaced screen entrances throughout the floor. However all the areas have low heights & hence the character of the spaces become limited to horizontal exploration. The space however interestingly changes its horizontal volume; it does not visually disperse from one point to another, becoming a directionless entity.
The entire space is divided into sections of spaces with some being wide open whereas some of them becoming narrow corridors.
We visualized this space as a single entire entity bounded by simple rectangular boundary. This helped us to indentify our elements which were a mere positive or negative extrusion in and out of the parent form. e.g. Concession counter acts as positive extrusion whereas screen entrances towards it right act as a negative extrusion of the same parent form. This helped us to bind the space together with an invisible plane holding all different elements together. Planning consists of forming lines which control the flow of space from the entrance, dispersing into different pockets. Gold class pocket has been designed to divert this flow of space in a rhythmatic manner.
We made sure that the flow of lines in plan continues in its vertical expression as well. Concession counter is designed with a shell jutting out of the invisible rectangle which has no straight walls or regular format. At other places ceiling moves swiftly through the central space coming down and meeting the floor. A section of it is scooped out to form reveal auditorium entrances showing bright innards of the form. Similar scooping exercise gives result to seating enclaves, concession counter, kiosks etc.
Gold class entrance is placed such that it forms an element of surprise to the user traversing his way through the space. One suddenly stumbles upon the glow of bright light coming from entrance of the gold class, the feeling of having discovered a new space within. However as an essential, this applies to the entire design.
