This commercial building for the Energy Department of the Govt. of Orissa is envisaged as a model for a net zero (energy efficient) building. The complex is divided into 3 buildings based on spatial requirements of the various sub departments.
The dynamic massing provides shade to a central elevated plaza maximizing the utility of this space through the year. This project incorporates various sustainability measures including photovoltaic energy, geo-thermal cooling systems, rainwater harvesting and a fundamental double skin system to reduce heat gain. The perforated facade assists in cutting in airconditioning costs while highlighting the green statement visually.
