A cultural hub for Indian arts and crafts, Dilli Haat, is conceived as a stylish boutique bazaar supported by the government to bring the crafts and the artisans directly to the city; an informal atmosphere of festivity with multitude of facilities to support a complete experience, a day excursion for locals, a quick introduction to Delhi for visitors and an image and flavour of India for the tourists, the concept of the Dilli Haat is superimposed with music at this site to enhance the experience and give the haat a specific identity and character, thus, haat (heart) beat.
Some of the key features of the project are:
Approximately 150 shops and open stalls for artisans and craftsmen, informal cafeteria and a coffee shop at the entrance, children drop off and creche, ticketing and security for the entire project. 25 air conditioned boutique stores around a plaza, help desk and tourist information center and offices, crafts museum and center for workshops and offices, music museum, library and store to support the music center, rooftop restaurant for fine dining, air conditioned multi cuisine food court, dormitories and budget rooms for artisans, craftsmen and sellers, concert hall and auditorium for 800 people, open air amphitheater for 1500 people, parking for about 400 cars and 400 scooters, bus, taxi and scooter stands, exhibition center for multipurpose and functions, banquet halls for holding conferences and events.
