This parcel of leftover land nestled between three cities with different jurisdictions is turned into a residential and commercial hub that makes up for the absence of a public realm.
Strategically located between two major business centers, this New Town Development Project combines contemporary high-rise residential towers with commercial space, hotels, shopping districts, and big-box retail destinations.
Engagement with the city, environmental, and social responsibility were priorities in this design. Extensive negotiations with the authorities resulted in a grey-water recycling system that features a lake two kilometres long, and an irrigation source for landscaping.
The site's squatter population were absorbed and integrated into the development by providing them with new housing within the site. The resulting extra land along the expressway creates a wide and lush landscaped buffer, insulating the entire development from the noise and pollution of the expressway.
