Located on 28 acres in Bangalore is a place which invokes instinctive calm and serenity, with the largest meditation Pyramid which can accommodate 5000 people at a time, fills the mind in a new sense of freshness and enthusiasm, spending time at the bare- brick cafeteria invokes awe and astonishment at the sheer simplicity of the structure. To accommodate the visitors various facilities are constructed. One such facility is the Cafeteria which defines sheer simplicity.
The conscious effort to highlight the pyramid is the basic guideline for the design of the built as well as the unbuilt spaces. The Cafeteria is located such that it overlooks the lake and the magnificent Pyramid. This block is accessed through a small bridge over the rain water channel constructed of clay jaali blocks.
The tensile fabric structure at the entrance contrast sharply with the exposed bricks of the cafeteria, adding an interesting touch to the contemporary yet rough character of the building. This structure welcomes visitors to go through various volumes of the cafeteria within, making them feel the structure interact with nature to exude a sense of tranquility.
The semicircular shape of the cafeteria dictates the site, looks as though this structure is clasping the serene lake. This cafeteria is designed to have three levels of interaction, a open dining space, a semi enclosed and a covered dining space.
