A client brief for naturally ventilated and well lit space, with outdoor views of a developing town in North Karnataka, called for the 'Terrace Shed' of a singly owned building to be transformed into company's corporate head-office.
The Vastu complaint brief required for the M.D & Chairman's cabin to be located such that visitors visiting them do not disturb the office, thus resulting into a well segregated, yet visually connected layout. A N-S spine separates the cabins along the West from the rest of the office that is spread along the East verandah & South Terrace. A large board room commanding the North overlooks a semi-open cafe niched on a terrace at the lower level.
The materials (often natural & bare): a hardy Black Kadappah stone floor, grey cement walls, a sweeping curved plywood ceiling with frosted acrylic skylights, large panes of glass walls that accentuate the spatial volume, often punctuated by tall Plywood shutters, allow for a dynamic play of light, air & the tropical greens.
