This is the place where the century aged college of Agriculture situated. It is an integral part of Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth at Rahuri. Pune has always been a centre of education and rejoiced culture. In 1676 A.D, the Kingdom of Maratha was established by Shivaji Maharaja around Pune. Being connected to other metropolis of India by means of rail, road and air, it has a very refreshing atmosphere with temperature that ranges from 200C to 320 C.

The College of Agriculture was set up in 1877 following the set up of other similar departments. Soon, it was realized that for the development of agriculture, research and education are needed to be essentially promoted and supported. Therefore, Mahatma Jyotiba Phule, a social reformer, convinced British Government to establish institutions for education and research of agriculture. It resulted into the foundation of branch dedicated to the teaching of agriculture in Science College in 1879 and it was further expanded into a distinctive college of agriculture in the year 1908.
