The recently renovated "AAHARAM" at GRT Regency in Madurai is a contemporary reflection of the rich cultural tapestry the city of Madurai has to offer. While maintaining clean lines of design, the space reflects traditional elements that are inspired by the regional architecture. Every element has been carefully designed to achieve the overall intent. Starting from the entrance doorway, the beveled glass is a contemporary twist on the traditional temple door of South India. Completed with brass accents and a gilded peacock, this is a true reflection of the city. The temple theme carries through into the interior with the stepped ceiling that is inspired by the many "gopurams" in the city. The spaces for the buffet, service and live kitchen are in line with state of the art F&B requirements. Using seamless materials of local granite and Corian surfaces, the design achieves functional requirements while remaining aesthetically warm. The special touches to the restaurant come through the additions of art. The specially designed frames are rich with silks and traditional materials. The Tanjore inspired paintings capture temple architecture and form a traditional art series in the booth seating area.
