The site was in woods of Raipur, a new developing town near Nagpur City. Black cotton soil, Hot & dry climate & clients requirement of a complete spread out plan, with most functional areas laid out adjacent to each other, made it quite an interesting layout.
Keeping in mind the interflow of spaces and semi-open surroundings as the clients requirement this private residency project, functional areas were kept above ground with amalgamation of family spaces in a cluster around each other. The formal living has been kept on ground floor for segregation of public & semi-private spaces. An open plan with vertical screens, at times physical & at times with plantations, achieve a very homogenous abundance of open areas. This makes the layout though wide spread, airy & light for circulation. The blocks on floors above have a decent projection so as to cover semi-open areas below & offer protection from Raipur harsh heat.
The outcome is a set of experiences mostly created due to play of spaces on a wide platter. And the design makes the experiences more interesting, with different uses throughout the day
