Three floors of the building, basement, ground and a mezzanine, opposite Sapna Theatre in the Community Centre were to be designed as a restaurant, lounge and bar. Right on a bustling road with high vehicular traffic, dense residential colonies and with an undeveloped market, it was important for the place to create a context of its own and be a catalyst for development of the Community Centre.
The place was conceived as a clearing in the forest - a glade in the urban jungle. A superimposing imagery of the angelic, the worldly and the dark and sinful, help define the function and character of each individual space. The Fine Dine - ground floor, in black and gold represent the beautiful material world. Textures from nature, blown up and a continuous light element of shimmering golden leaves characterize this space. The Club - lower ground, is a Black digital expression of the forest and represents the sinful. 2700 programmed LED bulbs set inside a wall light up to become the urban jungle at night showing city lights, then transforms into a firefly riot in a forest at night. The Sheesha Lounge - mezzanine floor, is white and is wrapped in an abstract foliage screen which lets in diffused cool, white, light from above like an ephemeral bower. The three floors are interconnected by a spiral staircase with lit glass treads. The entrance is screened from the rest of the market with dense plantation and is heavily textured. The building elevation can be noticed from far with a backlit white digitally cut metal skin which wraps the whole length and breadth of the elevation.
