Their prime requirement was acoustic silence, and we designed most of the office features around this The site was long and vestibular in nature. We oriented workstations along the light edge to create a day-washed bright space as a big departure from their previous basement office. Lighting and lines were created to enhance the length available Interesting features and design spotlights were built into the space, with a teak wood panelled listening room for their music, as well as a large number of storage areas to organise individual samples and odds and ends Service and operation friendly areas, such as the dispatch zones were designed after detailed discussions with their team to understand the funtionality associated with each of these areas Concelaed filing cabinets were also worked in between spaces, to multiply their storage possibilities, yet maintain a neat and clean office environment The minimal, modern design language continues to areas such as their conference rooms, with a lit acoustic fabric ceiling, and simple panelling to keep the space as silent as possible The entry experience and small common smoking area under the building. We greened this area as much as possible, to dampen road noise, and provide a cool shaded area to take a quick break The Main office volumes are treated with different permutations of seating, and people were encouraged to select their own workspaces, to add a personalisation element. The design objective was to maximise natural light and elements to aid productivity in the workspace We worked out a clean, white modern design language for the new Sony Music Office in Bombay.
