The Sahara Newsroom We created the virtual environments for the Sahara relaunch
We created a new-age angular language for the relaunch of Sahara's Local News channel. The idea was to conceive of a hypothetical building in which the newsroom is located, and design various virtual backdrops for the newsreader.
The exercise involved detailed projection mapping, and a precise coordination between built and created elements, hence we generated detailed dimension drawings to create each dovetailed element.
Render tests were then done to check the composition and placements of individual elements within the frame, and to study balance and tolerances for all the departments before getting into final renders
The finished renders for the backgrounds, matched with the camera framing and composition were created on our models by an external consulting agency. The finished plates were intended to be as close to reality as possible
Virtual variations were created to cater to different channels, timings, and languages for the channel's various news-times. We designed the environmental graphcis of the background space to tell the time of the news broadcast.
The newsreader desks designed as per specs, had built in underlighting options, to avoid facial shadows on screen. All these could be adjusted by the camera-person as per shot requirements.
Backdrops for other related spaces were also created, as variations to be used in the future for other shows. We tried to imagine a large campus that would serve as varied backdrops for the shows. The idea was for the design language to set Sahara news apart from other news channels in the busy TV space.
