Situated On 14 Acres In Bridgehampton, Long Island, This Project Draws Its Inspiration From A 19th Century Farmhouse That Stood On The Property. Building Upon The Architectural Authenticity Of The Existing Home, The Design Of The New 7,100 Square Foot Estate Thoughtfully Honors The Integrity Of The Original House, Whose Structure Was Preserved As The Home's Main Entry Space And Central Organizing Element. The Repetition Of 3 Gable Roofs Of The Same Pitch And Span Create A Subtly Modern Massing For The Building. A Thoughtful Use Of Materials And Honest Attitude Towards Structure, However, Reference The Historical Architecture Of The Region. Wood Shingles Clad The Exterior Facade And Roofs, And A Traditional Expression Of Structure Is Found Throughout The Home's Interior, With The Use Of Exposed Beams And Floor Joists. Elsewhere On The Property, The Addition Of A Guest Cottage, A Swimming Pool Set Within A Man-made Pond, A Canoeing Dock, And Private Apple Orchard Complete The Design Of The Estate.
