RVSA Library is planned to house approximately 12000 books.
Minimalist approach has been attempted while detailing the space. Book rack unit is conceived as a single element that is stretched along the length of the space, dividing the entire space into circulation spine and dedicated reading zones. The front of book shelves face the circulation spine and the reading zone is planned at the back of the book shelves. Reading areas get ample natural ventilation from the windows and dedicated task lighting is extended from the table. Attention to signage has been attempted while detailing the book shelves.Defined space for group discussions is identified in the upper level. The light trays planned above the book shelves binds the entire storage stacks into one single continuous loop which provides diffused lighting. The internal staircases are detailed in metal fabrication which acts as a design element in the double height spaces.
