It was a dark night in Seattle in the year 1937 when a young college student was working in the garage to earn his tuition money. He was cleaning the shop and went to wash his hands at an old fashioned two handle faucets. Suddenly the hot water coming from the faucets alarmed him with a thought. No one would have thought the night will revolutionize the plumbing industry. The idea of the single handle faucet was born. The young college student name was Al Moen.

He said” what you want to get from the faucet you will be able to get but why not with a single instead of double handle, so I made some drawings and came up with this solution”. Out of these drawings make a history making drawing of single handle faucet which was granted a patent. He was recognised as a pioneer, who transformed the way to experience water. Initially they had a very bad start could not able to find the plumbing products manufacturers. Second World War put a hold on its plans. Then at last in 1947 they found an interested manufacturer Ravenna Metal Products and sold 250 faucets to a supplier in San Francisco. From then onwards they became a household brand worldwide.

In 1959 their success was undeniable and covered hundreds and thousands of homes across US. Fortune magazine in the same year named its single handle faucets as one of the best designs of modern times. After 32 years Fortune magazine published a list which included Moen Faucets in “100 of America’s Best”.

During his tenure he held 75 patents including the screen aerator, replaceable cartridge, the push-button shower valve diverter, and pressure balancing shower valves, swivel spray and flow control aerator. They offer a wide range in the above segments. Quality and customer satisfaction are the two parameters on which they focus and ensure that a proper quality check on every product is done before the product enters into the market.

Since its inception they have introduced a wide range of consumer preferred stylish products making it as a number one plumbing brand in the mind of customers. They are being nominated in the National Inventors Hall of Fame and was also honoured by the plumbing industry in 1993 by being named to the Kitchen & Bath Hall of Fame.
