Project Started: 2009
This was an initiative by Us, Hundred hands, Venkataramanan associates and Apparatus media lab for Abide to relook at our urban conditions especially the public spaces and demonstrate carefully considered strategies which add value to experience of these civic spaces. One of the sites picked was Brigade road while the other was the busy Mayo hall junction. The strategies resolved basic issues centered around pedestrian experiences while making the traffic movement more efficient. Here the idea was to instill experiences which help in engendering a sense of civic pride, hence creating public spaces that people can identify with, adding value to the city. The agenda was also to technically address streetscapes and develop standards for the execution of these which serve as examples to be carried out in the other parts of the city.
