Location: Jaipur, Rajasthan, India
Project Work Status: Completed Projects
Client: Mr. Prabha Mallu
The house is a mix of Rajasthani culture and style with modernity. From, function and tradition, blend in seamlessly. The building elevation has been designed that only the ground and first floors are visible. The top floor is hidden; the façade is decidedly modern, with straight lined teak panels, stainless steel beams, beige travertino cladding and an angled roof highlighted with cove lighting. As a constrast, the side of the house is in an earthy colour, reminiscent of the ancient havelis in Jaipur. The laser cut wooden panel that highlights the terrace garden on the second floor, is a modern take on the traditional jaali. The second floor is for the client’s young son, and is a complete deviation from the lower floors, with its black and white theme.
The boundary wall along the driveway is clad with grey Italian tiles, with lights fixed on the surface to create a subtle effect. A small courtyard is created near the entrance, decked with trees and surrounded by pebbles. The evening light creates a zen-like effect here.
