Situated in the 7th floor of a 4 star banquet hotel in the main CBD of Bangalore, the terrace floor is converted to home the bar, overlooking the panoramic view of the popular race course.
Since the terrace floor was partially finished with a M.S. fabrication frame work which housed all the electrical and A/C equipments, the height was a restriction in the entire design process.
The plan is continuation of the main axis which ends up from the lift lobby. This small seating lounge space is divided into 2 main zones namely the covered family area and the open smoking area.
Usage of natural materials was the key design element in the execution of the entire design.
Bamboo is extensively used which was specially bought from the north eastern state of Nagaland, which covered the lobby and the bar area enclosing the two main ducts.
Raw Bamboo poles of 3 diameter,1 diameter are used in the design where 3 diameter were used in the roof which were intervened with tread to avoid all the joints and the 1 diameter poles are used to cover the fabrication M.S. frame work.
Usage of the natural exposed brick masonary was another design element which enveloped the entire wall surface to create a very soothing effect with abundance usage of lighting. The central covered area was designed with MDF board finished with water jet cutting technology to create purely magical effect which could be viewed from a long distance from road.
