This was a new property in an upcoming mall in Surat. The vicinity of the mall has almost all established brand of cinemas within a 1 km radius to each other. All these had very modern style of interiors with finishes in similar language. So we wanted our patrons to have a different cinema experience than what was already given.
Concession area has an elongated rectangular layout with a typical section with back to back cinemas. However there are intermittent beams which interrupt the central double height of the lobby. This could result into a very narrow space with a low height ceiling.
Ceiling was designed to go up wherever double height is available and come down near the beams. This helped to explore the central double height volume and maintain the spacious feel of the lobby. Ceiling is composed of 2 different cross sectional profiles which alternate in a curved pattern, wrt to the intermittent beams. The main shell of the lobby is composed of this ceiling which holds the entire volume together.
Gold class is composed of a different shell oh vertically
