Any & every extraordinary space starts with becoming typical first and then sets its design path to become off-typical. The special experiences that the space imbibes upon us, become interesting fragments of a untold story, open to individual interpretation. And that's when the space comes alive!
With Kurnool, the space came richly endowed with a very novel accent feature of the elliptical atrium. We decided to carry this punch ahead and make it a part of our sensory experience.
Sensory means relating to the physical senses. It comes from a Latin word, sentire, meaning "to perceive, feel. Taking cues from the elliptical curve, we decided to take the concentric lines inside the lobby. The curvilinear lines are reflected both in ceiling and in floor too. Because of which, the curve appears to be essentially moving. Inviting you in, directing you to move along. It's not a freeze frame where you can stop and stare. In fact it's a composite of those infinite pauses that take you from one dot to another, with an increasing curiosity and apprehension, of what lies ahead; beyond! There is a sense of mystery attached to the continuity of the climax. Somewhere along the path, it's even okay if it's interrupted by some in-transit destination, like a box office or a concessions counter. It can still be picked up from where it was left.
