The Indian Music Experience is seen as an extension of the urban sphere. Crucial to this is the idea of open public spaces which complements the gallery experience. Our intention was to not only find an expression for a place which celebrates the diversity of this art form by bringing nuances of Indian music closer to the public offering opportunities of collective as well as individual explorations, but also look at this project as a transformative seed capable of lending to the cultural milieu of Bangalore. This idea of making it a cultural hub delves in the discovering potential of public spaces which the city direly lacks as opposed to consumer driven public culture exhibited in the malls.
It is the India's first interactive music museum. The sinuous curved facade creates a striking and memorable form, which at the same time facilitates an easy movement path through the exhibits. One can traverse all the galleries in a continuous path, without the need to backtrack.
