The Courtyard Marriott, overlooking the Hussain Sagar Lake, is an extension of the existing Marriott hotel in Hyderabad. With an infrastructure of 115 rooms the key criteria for this project was the need for a fast and dry construction delivering good sound insulation and fire resistance.

The Crowne Plaza in Kochi is a 270 room hotel, operated by the IHG group and owned by the KGA Group. The key requirement of the project was for a system which delivered high performance in terms of fire resistance and good sound insulation.

PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS:
Gyproc drywall systems were the preferred choice for both the architects and clients for all the guest rooms and banquet halls. A 149mm Gyproc Fireline Drywall system was used in guest rooms which provided a 58 RwdB acoustic rating and 90 minutes of fire protection. In wet areas Gyproc Moisture Resistant drywall systems were used. Gyproc false ceilings were used in all guest rooms and common areas.

Shangri-La

The Shangri-La hotel in Mumbai is located in Lower Parel, the hub of central Mumbai. The Shangri-La is a 43 storey high hotel, built along with a 4 storey mall complex and a lobby area starting from the 9th floor. The project, being a high rise structure, required a lightweight construction that would aid in structural load reduction. It also required good sound insulation and fire resistance in line with the stringent performance requirements of 5 star hotels.

PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS:
Gyproc drywall systems were chosen for the entire project primarily due to their twin advantages of being lightweight, which resulted in significant structural load saving, and an ability to deliver high performance in terms of acoustics and fire rating. All the internal walls of the Shangri-La were built with different kinds of Gyproc performance drywall systems including:

  • 204mm twin frame Gyproc Fireline drywall systems used for banquet walls, built to a height of 9.8m with 2 hours of fire rating
  • 64mm twin frame Gyproc Fireline drywall systems used for guest rooms with a fire rating of 2 hours and an acoustic insulation of 58 RwdB
  • Gyproc Moisture Resistant drywall systems with Gyproc Fibre Cement boards used in special areas like the spa and toilets

Gyproc false ceilings were used in all guest rooms and common areas while the BOH areas, which needed a higher degree of maintenance, were constructed using Gyproc Metal ceiling range.

J.W. Marriott

J.W. Marriott is a 5 star luxury hotel with 550 rooms located just outside the T3 airport terminal in New Delhi. The key requirement for this project was a system which would help in constructing the project faster, with walls that delivered high performance in terms of acoustics and fire rating.

PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS:
Gyproc drywall systems were faster to construct as compared to traditional systems and helped the project to be completed on target. The project was completed at least 1 year earlier than if construction had been done using conventional construction. 200mm Gyproc drywall systems were used in guest rooms delivering 55 Rwdb of acoustic insulation and 60 minutes of fire rating. In wet areas Gyproc Fibre Cement board drywall systems were used.

Lebua Hotels and Resorts, owned by Tirupati Buildings and Offices Pvt. Ltd., is a 400 room property. Along with a hasty completion of the project, suitable performance based systems for application in guest rooms, bathrooms, corridors and the like made Gyproc the perfect choice for this project.

PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS:
Gyproc performance based drywall systems were used in all the internal areas including guest rooms, corridor and wet areas. 124mm double boarding Gyproc Duraline drywall systems were used in the project, delivering higher impact resistance to the walls along with 55 Rwdb of acoustic insulation and 120 minutes of fire rating. Gyproc Moisture Resistant drywall systems were used in wet areas. The Ecophon acoustic ceiling system was used in high noise areas like the lounge for superior acoustic performance.

Hilton Garden Inn

Hilton Garden Inn is a 180 room hotel reconstructed on an existing structure. The key challenge in this project was to use the existing structural load and complete the project fast.

PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS:
144mm lightweight Gyproc performance drywall systems and shaft closures were used in all internal areas. Drywall systems, since they are lightweight, were a suitable solution for structural load reduction. The systems delivered 53 Rwdb of acoustic insulation and 60 minutes of fire rating. They helped the project to be completed on time. Gyproc false ceilings were used in all guest rooms and common areas.
