To design the corporate headquarters of a garment export firm in a long narrow plot was the challenge. The result is an assemblage of spaces aligned along a longitudinal axis that set up a constant dialogue with the outside, while creating striking spaces within for the manufacture and display of garments. The various functional blocks were staggered along the corridor spine creating several courtyards of varying forms and functions. Common architectural elements tie these spaces together, such as skylights, double heights, sculptural walls and materials. White columns punctuate the rugged planes of the two-toned grit finished external walls. Located just off the start of the Bangalore-Mumbai highway, the finishes in grit and the vocabulary of small openings and courtyards creates an architecture appropriate for the context of the site.
