The administrative building is part of the capital complex of the new capital city of Chattisgarh. The building is spread on five levels, including a basement. Its genesis is based on climate responsive design. the building orientation helps maximize natural lighting and minimize heat gains in building envelope. The central courtyard augments natural lighting to achieve optimum daylight in work spaces throughout. The dynamic appeal created by moving edges in the courtyard has been further enhanced by use of transparent elements like water bodies and glass facades. The water body engenders interesting vistas and cool micro-climate amid wind. This modern built form strongly imbibes cultural impressions of Chattisgarh. The use of murals depicting local art forms, canopies reflective of imperial history and intricate jali work manifests throughout exhibiting an absolute amalgamation of contemporary, heritage and vernacular architecture.
