The concept was articulated by multiple interventions both at the level of Spatial Configuration and Materiality.
The store on first floor is divided into five zones, small courtyard like pockets allowing different groups of customers to have private buying experiences with each zone separated/surrounded by the display units. The nature of the display allows visual connection between each zone and also maintains an intimate experience.
The spatial layout of each zone is dictated by the product itself. There are three kinds of spatial relationships that have been created Browsing, and across the counter sale and a longer and more personal transaction.
The traditional format of floor seating sari selling that the traditional buyer is so used to was reinterpreted by elevating the floor seated seller handing out yarns of fabric on the floor to the same level of the buyer who would be seated on a conventional sofa height. Yet this was done in a manner that the merchandising racks were interconnected so that the Salespeople had free access to merchandise from different zones.
The faade is designed as a see through show window, which allows for bold and dramatic abstract Installations responsive to the collection of each season - which are visible from the Road and through which one gets glimpses of the store.
There is a Central VM area within the store it is a flexible scaffolding like structure created by using brass plated MS pipes which can be rearranged as per the story for the season. The lowered ceiling in the central area is also laid in a chevron pattern responsive to the floor with elements of bronze mirror.
