Berger paints was founded by Lewis Berger in the year 1760. The Company started manufacture products in India in the year 1923. Berger paints is the second largest painting company in India. It foundation has seen many changes in its ownership along the way of nearly 88 years. It started as Hadfield’s Limited (India), one of its factory is located in Howrah, West Bengal.
In the year 1947 the name of the company was changed to British Paints Limited (Holding). In 1983, the name was again changed to Berger Paints India Limited. The Company has seen many waves of changes but didn’t stop to enhances itself in the process. It has an annual sale turnover of Rs. 25 lakhs and business revenue over Rs. 3,600 cores.
Headquarter of the company is located in Kolkata, with 11 manufacturing plants and 170 sales offices. The Company supplies its products to 3 other countries. In 1983, the name of the Company was changed to Berger Paints India Limited. Currently, the majority stake is with the Delhi based Dhingra brothers. Berger Paints has established itself through a long course of time.
From an annual sales turnover of Rs.25 lakhs, business revenues today are in excess of Rs.4,500 crores on a consolidated basis.
