Project Work Status: Proposed Projects
2000 TERRAS adopts a more holistic approach than is generally the case with urban housing today, allowing for an alternative way of thinking and designing. The project stems from a systemic allocation of energy preserved , and generated on site, accounting for a significant percentages of the total energy consumed, resulting in a varied distribution of density.
The proposal coats the entire build able area on the site, rather than concentrating on zones, preferring to dispersion locations of events weightedly albeit evenly across the entire site. Superimposed upon the terrain, the controlled distribution of built space reflects the latent energy inherent within the site and contrasts sharply with its organic nature. Appearing alien within its context, 2000 Teras integrates seamlessly within its immediate environs allowing for multiple strategic connections, both across the railways, as well as along the coastline. Situated within the internal system of roads lies a bus stop, that accommodates for larger sited connections, linking the site to the railway station, and to the larger city as a whole.
Dispersal of communal green spaces form the ecological framework, not only as generators of energy but also serving as the structural nodes, fostering neighborhood space and encouraging community activities and services, such as communal vegetable gardens, fisheries, hot-tubs and outdoor saunas.
The scheme predicts the emergence of micro networks due to the creation of semi-public space, the greenhouses, that fosters a novel sense of community, encouraging a thoroughly integrated , as well as symbiotic, society.
